An opportunity to connect and engage in meaningful dialogue to elevate your nursing practice.

Meet Rachael

Kia ora, nau mai, haere mai, welcome to Bay Supervision

Rachael currently lives and works in Auckland, although is available online to nurses across Aotearoa interested in connecting for Professional Supervision.

Her roles over the years have spanned hospital and primary health/community care, both in the UK and in Aotearoa. Rachael has a background in medical and ICU nursing. Alongside this, solid industry, clinical and professional practice, and over 10 years working as a senior nurse leader in Primary Health Care, advocating strategically and operationally for nurses at a local and national level and working to develop and deliver quality projects and workforce capability programmes.

Rachael has been involved in professional development for nurses and other health professionals for over a decade. She has been providing professional supervision for the last 7 years in metro Auckland. Additionally, she has a solid track record in building positive, inter-professional relationships and communicating across many contexts.

Rachael importantly also receives regular supervision to enhance her own practice, currency and growth.

Most of all Rachael enjoys meeting and working with all levels of nurses to help them be the best they can be. All nurses face day to day challenges they need to navigate. Rachael offers a welcoming and safe environment to explore and manage these issues using evidence based models to help you remain invested in nursing long into their future!

Working Together

We will meet and get to know one another to establish a solid foundation to enable your professional growth and practice development. I work with a variety of evidence based reflective models, as well as developmental modelling for new grad nurses and the seven eyed model where indicated. Responding to your agenda and supporting you to find solutions as well as renewed motivation will ensure every interaction we have is one that counts.

What to Expect

The sessions are based on your agenda or issue, which you bring along. We spend time exploring areas of uncertainty, concern or success. Sessions will stimulate your thinking to help you search for solutions to issues.

As your Supervisor I will actively listen and offer skilled questions and guidance to help you reach your goals and answers. The intent is not to provide advice but rather assist you in strengthening and mobilising your own resources.

Safety netting around your accountabilities as a nurse will help you avoid the trap of making assumptions, support exploration of risk and assist you to extend your knowledge of self. We will explore new learning and growth from challenges you may have faced and your practice experiences.

Time and space in a confidential environment will allow you opportunity to view your work with fresh eyes and a greater awareness of your choices and decision making. In working together to explore options for balancing any stressors, we can reflect on impact and wellbeing needs.

Why Bay Supervision?

The name ‘Bay’ relates to whakapapa on my Mum’s side of the family. I was gifted the name “Bay” as the youngest child, by my Granny, whose name was also Bay. This is the Deer side of my family dating back to the 1700’s which is symbolised by a deer on the family crest, together with the words, “To err is human”. These words have been aligned to patient safety and quality in healthcare and with coincidentally living in the ‘Bays’ of Auckland, the fit all seemed to align!
